Nicolas Cage is going to sell his Bavarian castle, Schloss Neidstein in Germany because of financial meltdown in Hollywood. German celebrity weekly Bunte reported him saying that “ if Neidstein castle is no longer in my possession, it will always have a firm place in my memory." Nicolas cage has not paid a visit since last year to the Neidstein castle.
Neidstein Castle history!
Neidstein Castle was built in 1513 as residence of the noble family Brand. It is situated in the municipality of Etzelwang in Bavaria. The action star, 45, recently sold his castle, Schloss Neidstein, to his local German advisor, lawyer Konrad Wilfurth. This exceptional home is located within a 20 miles range of Munich, Bavaria, Germany and 19 miles to Starnberg, Bavaria.History, the sense of yesteryear mixed with a modern and trendy lifestyle can be experienced throughout the 12+ rooms of this extraordinary residence.Three large patios or decks, an exceptional roof top deck and a beautiful lush garden are perfect for entertainment or relaxation. There is ample place for workshops, recreation and entertainment.
The residence was build in 1902 and was once owned by the aristocratic family "Neidstein".It is the only "Neidstein" residence on the market today. One other building "Castle Neidstein" still owned by descendants of the "Neidstein" dynasty was sold to Nicolas Cage in 2006.
This landmarked building has been renovated in 1990 according to the codes and regulations, with special attention to plumbing, heating, kitchen and baths. There are also beautiful old tile stoves which are not in use, but could be reactivated. Bathrooms and kitchen do have floor tiles and are heated with underfloor heating. The finished basement has a wine cellar and additional rooms which could be used as an in-law-suite or offices. There is also a detached garage and outdoor building with ample storage space.
This property is located in a quiet, exclusive residential area, yet conveniently to schools, day care, business and shopping. Going by S-Bahn it only takes ca. 15 minutes to downtown Munich and 20 minutes to Lake Starnberg. Martinsried, Gross Hadern, Ludwig-Maximilian-Universität or Technische Universiät Munich can be reached by a short drive of ca. 30 minutes.News the Oscar winner was selling the castle surfaced last week. Cage reportedly sold it to his German advisor. Fortunately he still has another castle, Midford Castle in England, which he bought in July 2007.
Midford Castle history!
Midford Castle is a folly castle in the village of Midford, and the parish of Southstoke 3 miles (5 km) south of Bath, Somerset, England. The castle was built in 1775 for Henry Disney Roebuck from designs by John Carter in the shape of the "clubs" symbol used in playing cards (♣). It has been suggested, originally in a magazine article in 1899, that he asked for the clubs design to represent an ace of clubs because he had obtained the money for the castle from gambling on a card game, however this is unlikely, as the porch which creates the "stem" of the symbol was added later
In 1810, the castle was bought by one of the Conollys of Castletown House in Co Kildare, who added the porch (said to give the clubs symbol its stalk) and built the nearby stables and chapel, known as the priory. The latter fell into disrepair after the last of the Conollys sold the house in 1901.Michael Briggs and his wife Isabel (who is better known by her pen name of Isabel Colegate),who bought Midford in 1961, carried out extensive renovation, incorporating the chapel into the garden as a picturesque ruin.In July 2007, the castle was sold to actor Nicolas Cage for £5 million.Recently Nicolas cage has released a film called "Knowings"!
